London/LA LAB: We’ll think of a title after we meet
Franklin Furnace, New York, 1981

In what might have been subtitled “A Tale of Three Cities,” 16 London and Los Angeles women performance artists met in New York for three weeks in March 1981 at Franklin Furnace Gallery.  The two curators—Susan Hiller from London and Suzanne Lacy from Los Angeles—selected the artists and two accompanying critics. The transatlantic pairings presented over various evenings were oddly intriguing...and illuminated the differences and similarities between the work of women in the two cities
