Telebridge at GES2
V-A-C Foundation, Moscow, Russia, 2019-present

Since 2019 Lacy has worked with curators and community activators from the Vā€” Aā€” C Foundation on a long range project to engage communities as co-creators in an inclusive vision for a new public space under construction in the center of Moscow. The former power station, nicknamed GES-2, is designed by Renzo Piano (here) and its architecture as well as its curatorial vision offers an impressive exploration of what public space means to Moscow residents. It will open in the Fall 2020 with a multi-screen projection of Telebridge, the first of a three part work where community residents conversed via telecommunications with builders working at the construction site. The process of material construction of the GES-2 site is paralleled with the process of curators and community workers who are attempting to construct and program a public space that is truly democratic and participatory.
